The Department of Biochemistry and Industrial microbiology in National college was established in the year 2000. The department offer both undergraduate (B.Sc.) and Postgraduate (M.Sc.) degrees from the University of Kerala.

Under Graduate Programmes
The undergraduate programme offered by the department is B.Sc. Biochemistry & Industrial Microbiology (double main course). The maximum intake of students for the B.Sc. course is thirty-six, and the basic eligibility to pursue the course is plus-two with biology.
M.Sc. Biochemistry
Post Graduate Programmes
M.Sc. Biochemistry course was introduced in the department in 2015. The department can take a maximum of sixteen students for the course, and the basic eligibility for joining the course is a B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Industrial microbiology.
