NATIONAL COLLEGE
National College Library is equipped to meet essential academic and intellectual needs of its users. Open access systems and spacious reading rooms provide an atmosphere conducive to study. The collection consists of more than 8,000 books on various topics interest for both the faculty and student community. The collection is continuously updated with curriculum changes. The library is functioning as the knowledge hub of college. The library will be kept open from 9 AM to 4 PM on all working days. It subscribes to many newspapers and magazines. The library is Wi-Fi enabled for internet connectivity.
Mission
👁️ As a top self-financing arts and science college in Trivandrum, our objective is to maintain the library collection by acquiring, organizing, and updating it to facilitate the teaching and learning process. Furthermore, it motivates individuals to expand their knowledge beyond the curriculum requirements. Collaboration with the faculty is also essential in merging information skills and technology for easy access to relevant information needed to improve their proficiency. Lastly, to provide instruction and guidance on efficient use of learning resources.

Library Advisory Committee
Library Advisory Committee which comprises the Principal as Chairperson, Professors of different departments take the lead in setting strategic directions for all aspects of the library’s services and operations. It meets regularly to discuss the issues and priorities judiciously for achieving its overall goals.
Resources
National College Library is rich in resources that are needed for superior education and research activities at the institute. It has been the policy of the library to procure resources beyond the syllabus requirements, to provide the best access to its users. The following statistics depict the recourses available in the library.
Print Collection
The library has a total collection of about 8,316 printed volumes including books, textbooks, and bound volumes of journals. Books are organized in open access shelves in various collections.
General Collection
This is the largest collection of books in the library. Books for professional reading, research, and supplementary texts are kept in this collection.
Reference Collection
While most books in the General Reference section and text reference can only be consulted within the library. Subject to copyright regulation this material can be photocopied. Photocopy service is not available in the library.
Textbook Collection
Textbooks for different courses being run in the college are kept in a separate collection. These are issued to students for a short duration.
Journals and Magazines
Journals with professional and research orientation are subscribed to by the library. General magazines are also subscribed to by the library. The library subscribes to several daily newspapers.

Library Membership
The membership of the College Library is open for all students, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the College.
Library Timing
🕛 The College Library is open five days a week (Monday to Friday).
🕛 Working hours -9.00 AM to 4.15 PM excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazette holidays.
🕛 Lending services 9.30 AM to 4.00 PM.
While entering the Library, the user has to show his/her valid Identity Card/Library card at the Entrance Gate and also has to sign on a Register.
Issue System
A user has to present a College Identity Card for the issuance of the desired book on loan. The period of loan is 15 days. Conditions of Borrowing of Books: At the time of the return of the book, if any damage or injury to the book is noticed, the member shall be deemed responsible for the same and will be required to replace the book either of the same edition or the recent edition to the Library. Atmosphere of Study: As the Library is a place for individual study, it is necessary to maintain a quiet, calm, and dignified atmosphere inside it to let all the users study without causing disturbance of any sort to their fellow users. Talking and discussion inside the Library are strictly prohibited.
CCTV (Closed Circuit Television)
CCTV was installed in the library so that every movement of the users could be traced for the safety of the library.
