ALUMNI REPORT
The Department boasts of dynamic alumni who maintain a regular link with the Department through an active alumni association which was formed on 16th May 2022. Our community of about 100 alumni are a source of inspiration and guidance for students of the Department. Interacting with the alumni, the students are able to gather highly valuable tips to be followed for success in the real professional backdrop. In every field, our students and alumni have made a significant impact. The Department is committed towards the valuable feedback of alumni members which are effectively channelized for the better functioning and development. The Department conducts regular meetings of the alumni to share their views, recollect their nostalgic moments of their college life and also discuss about their contribution to the studentsβ progress such as their career including higher studies and employment opportunities.
INDUSTRIAL REPORT
Field visit is an essential part of Botany. As a part of the BSc. Curriculum, a five day study tour was organized for the sixth semester students of BSc. Botany and BSc. Botany and Biotechnology. The visit was organized to study the biodiversity as well as to collect plant specimens such as angiosperms for herbarium preparation. Forty Five students accompanied by Dr.S. Anita, HOD, Botany, Dr.Priya Gopinath T., Assistant Professor in Botany and Mr. Sunil Kumar, S., Lab Assistant in Botany participated in the tour.
Highlights of the Tour
π Visited the Botanical Survey of India, Southern Circle, Coimbatore and attended a presentation about the Institution and herbarium techniques by Dr.Rakesh G.Vadhyar, Botanical Assistant.
π Visited the Botanical Garden, Ooty where the students observed various rare and exotic species in the garden.
π Collection and identification of local flowering plants of Ooty for herbarium preparation.
π Visited the Chamundi temple and Mysore Palace.
π Active participation of the students in water activities at Belur.
π Visited places of tourist attraction in Coorg.
The tour evoked learning, and unforgettable memories, igniting a lifelong passion for Botany and environmental conservation within the young minds.
